Even for a professional, kitchens can prove to be extremely complicated. That's why Karen Williams, creative director of St. Charles, wanted to help streamline the process. This month, she's introducing her designs for The St. Charles Collection, the first-ever line of pre-designed and pre-styled kitchens for the heritage brand. (Frank Lloyd Wright and Mies van der Rohe are some of the noted names who favored St. Charles kitchens.)
Having readymade design options helps the company guarantee that customers will enjoy the high level of taste associated with the brand—no design guesswork involved. Clearly, it's also an exciting moment for Williams, and one that ties in rather unexpectedly to St. Charles's past. "When I first started at St. Charles, we had curated options and it worked really well," Williams explains to AD PRO. "About 10 years ago I thought, Why did we move away from that? While it has been on my mind for nearly a decade, we have been avidly working on this specific collection for the past three years." Below, Williams speaks to AD PRO about the new collection and shares why not every color works in a kitchen.
